The Trevi Fountain, in Rome, Italy is massive, and it has to make your MUST SEE list in Rome. It is a very popular stop for tourists to expect some crowds and justling for room to sit by the fountain for pictures. There are a lot of shops that sell souviniers as well as cafe's, gelato shops and an amazingly good pizza place that is in the row of buildings on the side of the fountain (to your left when facing it). We spent time around the fountain, ate some pizza, shopped a little and then went back to the fountain for a final visit before leaving.

Trevi Fountain is a fiest for the eyes and the senses. The fountain is large, the largest i have ever seen. There are lots of statues, ornate carvings and water falls. The back of the fountain resembles that of a building, and from this all of the ornate work begins. Along 3 sides are areas where you can sit and watch the fountain.
The central statue shown in this picture is that of Neptune who is riding a chariot made of a shell that is pulled by two sea horses.. On the right of this central statue is a statue that represents Health and to the left one that represents Abundance the water represents the sea

Look how ornate the top of the fountain is. If you are going to visit the Trevi Fountain, just don't look at it quickly and walk away. Sit by it, relax, marvel at the water features and explore with your eyes every inch of it.

This is one of the statues on the left of the Trevi Fountain. Look at the great detail in the man's beard and stomach and the horse. The artisians that worked on this fountain were of exceptional skills. This fountain (basically one large statue) took 30 years to build. The entire fountain is 85 feet heigh and 65 feet wide

This is a nice view looking down at the fountain. It allows you to see things just a little bit differently. In this view you can see that there is more water in the fountain than you may think and that water streams down in various places.

This picture is a good shot of the entire fountain so that you can see just how massive it is. The square surrounding the Trevi Fountain is called the Trevi Square and is a lively one. The water to fuel this fountain is brought from a the Salone Springs located about 14 miles outside of the city.

Recommendation

My partner and I had a blast in Beliize. I conquered my fear of the water and found that on vacations, you just need to be willing to get outside of your comfort zone. You need to be willing to do things that are unexpected and out of character. Doing this builds character, it broadens your horizons and allows you to enjoy all aspects of the country you visit. Would I go back to Belize? In a heartbeat!
